Muskogee Fire Department's pumper #1 has turned pink.

Muskogee Assistant Fire Chief John Tipton says 15 to 20 firefighters spent an entire day wrapping the fire truck in pink last month as part of breast cancer awareness.

Tipton says the idea behind the wrap hits close to home as his wife was diagnosed with breast cancer seven years ago.

He says Muskogee's fire chief picked up half of the $1,400 cost of the wrap with the local firefighters union picking up the rest.

Muskogee firefighters are also raising money for the Komen Foundation with the sale of "Muskogee Firefighters For A Cure" t-shirts.

Cost is $15 per shirt [size small to large] with slightly higher prices for larger sizes. He says they've already sold out, but have re-ordered.

Those shirts will be at Muskogee's central fire station at 515 Columbus by Friday.
