The University of Tulsa celebrates the opening of the new engineering building.

The opening ceremony at Stephenson Hall kicked off Friday with just the touch of a button.

A student-made contraption actually cut the ribbon.

The $16-million building will house the McDougall School of Petroleum Engineering, which had outgrown its old building.

"This new building takes care of all that—state of the art labs, really an incredible setting. We're just so fortunate and grateful to the Stephenson family and all the other donors," said University of Tulsa President Steadman Upham.

Upham said the new building helps students keep up with changes in the oil business.
