An area food bank is seeing a tremendous jump in the number of people who are hungry.
The Muskogee Cooperative Ministries food bank, based at first Presbyterian Church, says they're seeing a 19% increase in people who need food.
Volunteer Bud Ranks thinks it may be because unemployment benefits are running out for some people and many of those effected have children.
"It hurts to see some of these people that come in here, your heart bleeds for them, and you don't know what to do other than try to help them as much as we can with what we have available," Ranks said.
Here's how you can help: Drop off a canned food item at the Haunted Castle of Muskogee Friday or Saturday night, and you can get half off your admission ticket.
