Broken Arrow's new city manager will begin work November 6, 2012. The City Council approved a 2-year employment agreement with Thom Moton at a council meeting Tuesday.
Moton is currently the assistant city manager in Greenville, North Carolina.
"Prior to the interview process, I had conducted extensive research and my research indicated Broken Arrow was an outstanding community and the City organization was well managed," Moton said in a news release.
"I am thrilled about joining the community and cannot wait to get started on this new journey that offers so much promise."
Moton said he is happy that he will be within a four-hour drive of family members who live in north Texas.
An employment agreement notes that Moton will receive an annual salary of $153,500, a vehicle allowance, wireless phone service allowance and a 6-month severance package.
