Student-Run Restaurant Gives Tulsa Teens Practical Experience

Some Tulsa students are trading time in the classroom for a little time in the kitchen.

Nathan's Bistro is a student-run restaurant and is back in business for the school year.

Students in Hale High School's culinary program test their skills cooking for customers and working as waiters.

"There's all types of real world situations they learn, and they're not sitting in a desk, they're not writing or pulling out notebook paper, and actually get to do some really interesting things. They really enjoy it," said Principal Caleb Starr.

Nathan's Bistro is open for lunch Wednesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.
