The win improves the Golden Eagles season record to 6-3-2.
The Golden Eagles had several failed opportunities as time ran out in regulation, recording their first shots on goal in the final five minutes. With 4:55 remaining, Kayla Keller took a shot that was saved by Creighton's Katie Jo Swanson, followed by another Swanson save on a Whitney Booth shot in the 88th minute.
Through the first 90 minutes of play, the Blue Jays outshot the visiting Golden Eagles 19-8, including seven shots that were each knocked down by ORU's keeper Helen Erb.
Lauren Parks, Megan Giles and Keller each finished the match with a pair of shots each, while Shelbi Lousch added a shot in the final five minutes of regulation.
Whitney Booth took her second shot of the match in the 104th minute, but the play was blocked by the Blue Jay defense. Creighton was unable to get a shot off during the overtime periods.
The team will have a week off before taking part in their first ever Southland Conference showdown next Sunday (Sept. 30) at Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches, Texas.
