The Tulsa volleyball team swept Marshall (25-18, 25-17, 25-16) to improve to 9-7 overall and 2-0 in Conference USA on Friday night.
The Golden Hurricane hit .274 (40-9-113) and held the Thundering Herd (11-5, 1-1 C-USA) to .091 (35-24-121).
Tulsa was led by the duo of senior outside hitters Tyler Henderson and Diana Silva. Each had nine kills and four digs during the match, while Henderson hit .400 and Silva hit .296.
Senior libero Jessica Adams collected a team leading 21 digs and chipped in a career-high eight assists. Senior setter Jordan Clampitt added 13 assists and 12 digs for her third double-double of the season. Sophomore setter Bailey Clampitt paced the team with 14 assists and tallied nine digs.
Junior outside hitter Kellie Culbertson added seven kills and four digs, while Miriele Gobbo contributed six kills and four blocks.
In the first set, the Herd jumped out to a 13-9 advantage. Tulsa stormed back taking nine of the next 12 points to lead 18-16. The Hurricane won the set 25-18 thanks to four kills by Gobbo.
TU's offense come alive in the second, as it hit .406 during the frame. The Hurricane won the set 25-17 as Henderson totaled five kills and hit .833 to lead Tulsa.
Tulsa relied on its defense in the third set, as it tallied four blocks and held the Herd to a -.020 hitting percentage. Adams recorded 10 of her 21 digs in the final set as the Hurricane romped to a 25-16 victory.
Tulsa will wrap up its six game home stand on Sunday when East Carolina comes to the Reynolds Center at 1 p.m.
