Judge Approves American Airlines Mechanics Contract

A federal bankruptcy judge, Wednesday, approved the new contract for mechanics at American Airlines.

That affects the majority of workers at Tulsa's maintenance base.

Under the deal, Tulsa stands to lose anywhere from 800 to 1,000 jobs.

The exact number is still being worked out and local union leaders expect to know more next week.

The judge also approved deals with flight attendants and maintenance clerks Wednesday.

American's AMR Corp. filed for bankruptcy protection in November.
