The ailing economy took its toll on Tulsa Raceway Park last year, which forced the owners to sell the track.
But a group of investors struck a deal to keep the engines revving, and now the track is back up to full-speed, just in time for the nationally acclaimed "Drag Week."
Divers were out this weekend registering their hotrods and prepping for the week long race that spans across five states in five days.
Matt Koetting said sitting at the starting line is a rush unlike any other.
"Just like a roller-coaster ride; you get to have the g's and pull the front wheels off the ground," he said.
After registering thier cars, the drivers will head off to Texas and kickoff the 1200-mile trip that will eventually end in Tulsa on Friday.
