The city of Owasso honored the life of a fallen soldier with a highway dedication Thursday.
A stretch of Highway 169 in Owasso was dedicated in honor of Army Specialist Christopher Horton.
The Collinsville soldier was killed in a firefight in Afghanistan one year ago, just one week before his 27th birthday.
Thursday's dedication answers a prayer Horton's wife made after his death.
"She looked at me and said, ‘I just have to make sure his sacrifice was worth it,' and that has stuck with me almost every day of my life since this time," said state Senator Rick Brinkley.
Jane Horton, the soldier's widow, said, "I wish he could be here to experience just a little bit of this honor and a little bit of this glory."
Specialist Horton is buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
