The opening weekend for Guthrie Green, a new Tulsa park and performance venue, is set for September 7-9. Music and fun is planned all weekend long in the Brady District.

Guthrie Green, at North Cincinnati Avenue and East Brady Street, is located right across the street from the new Griffin Communications Media Center that will soon be the home of News On 6.

Festivities kick off at 7 a.m. Friday, September 7 and continue through a fireworks display from ONEOK Field at 9 p.m. Sunday, September 9.

Highlights of the opening weekend include an opening ceremony with Mayor Dewey Bartlett and Ken Levit of the George Kaiser Family foundation at 3 p.m. Friday.

"Our hope is that Guthrie Green will have a mutually beneficial relationship with the Tulsa artist community," said Stanton Doyle, George Kaiser Family Foundation senior program officer.

"We think that through the stewardship of the Tulsa Performing Arts Center Trust, Guthrie Green will provide opportunities for local artists and arts organizations to present their work for a new audience which will, in turn, help ensure the park's success."
