Harsh words from one Oklahoma lawmaker for the controversial Scientology-affiliated drug treatment center on Lake Eufaula.
State Senator Tom Ivester of Sayre calls Narconon Arrowhead in Pittsburg County a "predatory business" and says it is a disgrace to have it operating in Oklahoma.
In the past 12 months, three people have died while being treated at Narconon Arrowhead near McAlester. In the most recent death, 20-year-old Stacy Murphy from Owasso was found dead in mid-July.
Pittsburg County Sheriff Joel Kerns and the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services are investigating the facility.
Ivester says at least 15 lawsuits have been filed against Narconon Arrowhead and he'll file legislation to tighten regulations on drug treatment centers.
