Tulsa Soccer Blazes To Early Lead, Coasts To Victory

They always say if you do the work early, you can relax later.

The Tulsa soccer team got off to a blazing start against Weber State Friday night, scoring three goals in the first 15 minutes, and then coasted to a 3-0 win to start the 2012 season.

Claire Nicholson got the action started, scoring in the fifth minute to stake the Golden Hurricane to a 1-0 lead.

Just two minutes later, Rebecca Handley scored the first of her two goals to increase the lead to 2-0. Handley scored again in the 15th minute for the final margin.

It was a chippy match throughout, with 32 total fouls called between the two teams. The end of the game was taken to another level, with three yellow cards being assessed in the final 10 minutes.

Tulsa is off for a week, but host the Notre Dame Fighting Irish next Friday, August 24 at 7:30 p.m.
