The funeral for Robert McMurtry, 61, will be Tuesday morning in Morris.  Authorities say McMurtry was shot and killed last week during an incident involving Okmulgee County Sheriff's deputies south of Morris.

Deputies were sent to McMurtry home on a welfare check, when they arrived, he approached the deputies armed with a machete.

The sheriff's office said McMurtry appeared distraught.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation said after an attempt to subdue McMurtry with a taser, a deputy was forced to fire a shot, killing McMurtry.

He was employed as an art teacher at Morris Public Schools. The funeral will be at the school gym at 10 a.m.
