Xavier Scruggs went 2-4 with a homerun and two RBIs to lead the Springfield Cardinals to a 4-1 victory over the Tulsa Drillers.
With the game tied at 1-1 in the sixth, Scruggs led off the inning with a solo shot to give Springfield the lead. Then in the eighth, he doubled home Oscar Tavares to make it a 3-1 Cardinals lead.
Eric Fornataro slammed the door in the ninth for his fifth save of the season.
Seth Maness (W, 9-2) earned the win for Springfield, pitching seven innings and only allowing one unearned run. Brandon Hynick (L, 4-2) pitched well for Tulsa, but his offense couldn't pick him up. Hynick threw seven innings of two-run ball, striking out five.
The Drillers will go for the series spit Monday night at 7:08 p.m. in Springfield.
