Tulsa earned its second straight victory on Tuesday night with a strong start to its four-game series against Northwest Arkansas.
The Drillers had a strong night at the plate en route to a 6-2 victory against The Naturals.
Right fielder Kent Matthes and designated hitter Mike Zuanich recorded three hits and two RBIs each to propel the Drillers to the victory.
Tulsa got the scoring started in the second when Zuanich singled to drive in Matthes. Matthes then came back in the fourth inning with a two-run homer to put the Drillers up 3-0.
In the fifth, Nolan Arenado doubled on a sharp ground ball to left field to score Michael Mitchell. Zuanich recorded a double of his own in the sixth to drive in Lars Davis to take a 5-0 lead. Angelys Nina drove in Tulsa's second run of the sixth inning and final run of the game on a sacrifice fly to score Zuanich and load the bases, but Tulsa couldn't get any more out of it.
NW Arkansas picked up two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning but Tulsa was able to stave off a rally and hold on for the win.
Tulsa's Tyler Chatwood picked up his first win of the year, allowing four hits and two runs in six inning while striking out seven.
The two teams play again on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Springdale.
