The 46th annual Porter Peach Festival kicks off Thursday, and they're not letting the drought stop them from making plenty of their famous peach pies and cobblers.
Folks at Livesay Orchards are getting their crop ready, and despite the lack of rain, they say the orchards have done even better than last year.
Most of the orchards are irrigated.
The festival won't be affected, but the drought has started to take its toll.
"But the dry weather is starting to hurt the yields, because the size of the peaches is starting to drop off, so it takes a lot more of them to fill a basket now," said Kent Livesay, the festival chairman.
The festival runs through Saturday, so there's still time to get out and enjoy the festival.
