A microburst storm hit south Tulsa hard Friday evening, around 6 p.m. PSO reports Saturday afternoon that power has been restored to all customers.

The microburst unleashed a torrent of wind and heavy rains, resulting in flooded streets around 81st Street and Lewis Avenue. Trees were toppled from Lewis to Riverside, all around the area between 71st and 81st.

The wind also tore down utility poles, leaving as many as 3,000 homes without electricity.

Power lines were hit especially hard near Oral Roberts University. A splintered telephone pole blocked all lanes of traffic on Lewis near the Mabee Center.

Part of the roof was ripped off one of the buildings at Pheasant Run Apartments.

The River Spirit Casino closed while they repaired damage caused by the storm, putting a damper on the Friday night plans of many people.

The casino at 81st and Riverside took damage to the power and air conditioning facilities. While the casino still had some power, the manager said it was not operating at full capacity.

They were back in business Saturday morning.
