Happy Independence Day! Whether your plans include a BBQ, time at the lake or enjoying a fireworks display, you'll want to take your heat precautions as temperatures climb to the century mark this afternoon. To put a positive spin on this heat, our humidity levels will be low and we'll have a nice breeze. Once the sun sets and we gear up to see fireworks, those readings will drop into the 80s. We can handle that, right!?
Dry conditions prevail and our vegetation is becoming potential fuel for fires. Keep that in mind if you plan to set off your own fireworks in the coming days. Little change in this dry pattern is expected through the weekend so that fire threat will be a concern through then.
If this heat is getting a little old, I've got more good news. The ridge of high pressure that has kept us locked into the heat will translate westward, allowing some tropical moisture to sneak into the state. A dip in the jet stream to our north will also contribute to a cool down with more unsettled weather by early next week. Hopefully we'll see some much-needed rain by then!
