Brandon Hynick pitched eight strong innings Tuesday night to lead the Tulsa Drillers to a 5-1 win over Corpus Christi. Hynick allowed only one run in his first start for Tulsa, helping the Drillers end its 6-game losing streak.
Trailing 1-0 in the 4th inning, Kent Matthes singled home Drew Muren to tie the game at 1-1. Lars Davis followed with an RBI single of his own, scoring Corey Dickerson. Matthes would later score on a Jarred Cosart wild pitch to increase the lead to 3-1 in the 4th.
The Drillers added another run in the 5th when Ben Paulsen singled in Angelys Nina, making in 4-1.
Kent Matthes added the icing on the cake in the 9th inning, crushing his 9th home run of the season to left-center field.
Jarred Cosart started strong, but couldn't make it through the 5th inning, falling to 4-5 on the season.
The Drillers will look for back to back wins Wednesday in the series finale against Corpus Christi at 6:05 pm.
