A district-wide survey shows that many Tulsa Public Schools parents and teachers support the idea of getting out in the middle of the day once a month.

That would give staff time to learn and share effective teaching methods.

Those who responded to the survey mostly favor "early release" on Fridays.

Some expressed concern about after-school care, but many said they'd be willing to pick up their children from school on those days -- as long as their children could stay at school until the normal pick up time.

The district is still working out all the details and a final plan still needs approval from the school board.
