A 22-year-old Edmond man was critically injured after he fell from the back of a pickup Friday afternoon at War Eagle Resort near Tahlequah.

Troopers say Aaron Phillips was taken by medical helicopter to a Tulsa hospital with head injuries.

Phillips was riding in the cargo area of a 2008 Ford F250 driven by 18-year-old Pablo Fuentes III of Moore, according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol collision report.

Fuentes was pulling into the southbound lane of State Highway 10 from a private drive. When he accelerated, Phillips fell, striking his head on the roadway.

Fuentes was driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the wreck, according to the trooper's report.

There were six other people in the truck in addition to Fuentes and Phillips. No one else was injured.
