To Avoid Mandatory Water Rationing, Mounds Area Asked To Conserve

Creek County Rural Water District No. 7, which has headquarters in Mounds, issued a notice Wednesday announcing voluntary water rationing.

The district also has released a schedule for outdoor watering:

• Customers located within the corporate city limits may water on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
• Customers located outside the corporate city limits may water on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
• No outdoor watering on Sundays.
  

"If customers will abide by this schedule, we may prevent having to go to mandatory water rationing," district superintendent Charles Linnet said in a statement. "…These measures are necessary due to the dry conditions and the hot weather. "

Linnet also said he is unable to provide a timetable, but hopes the drastic measures will be short-lived.
