A truck crash on I-244 over the Arkansas River just south of downtown Tulsa shut down traffic on the busy highway for 2 and a half hours Thursday.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says the truck crashed into concrete barriers at the exit to eastbound Broken Arrow Expressway at about 11:30 a.m.

Eastbound traffic on I-244 was diverted off at the 23rd Street exit at the south end of the bridge until workers could remove the truck and clean up debris.

Diesel fuel leaking from the truck's fuel tanks was stopped before it ran into the Arkansas River.

EMSA says two people were taken to a Tulsa hospital following the crash.

The OHP expects traffic on the busy Interstate highway to remain congested for at least another hour or so as workers replace barriers damaged in the crash.
