If you haven't done it yet, now is a good time to get your air conditioning unit checked as the hot summer months arrive.
There are some simple ways to help keep your unit working properly according to Air Conditioning Contractors of America.
Annual maintenance is important, not only in keeping you cool during the summer but to help you save money.
If you don't take care of your air conditioning system it could break down more, need replacement sooner and cost you more money throughout its shortened life span.
Steve Price, who operates a heating and air conditioning business in Tulsa, says if you inspect your air conditioning unit, be on the lookout for black widow spiders and even snakes. They like to hide in air conditioning units.
Price says you can use a water hose on the outside of the air conditioning compressor to clean away dirt and leaves.
"If you can clean and service your own unit. More power to you. If you can't, you can leave it to professionals. We'll be more than happy to come out and do maintenance on your air conditioner on a yearly basis. At least every spring get your air conditioning serviced," said Steve Price with Steve Price Heating & Air.
Price also says if you don't want to bother with your compressor unit, just make sure bushes or plants are cut far enough away to give the unit space to properly circulate air.
