Tulsa starting pitcher Dan Houston scattered seven hits over eight innings of work as the Drillers took the first of a four-game set from the Arkansas Travelers, 5-1.
Houston benefited from a great defense behind him that turned three double plays, and committed zero errors.
Ben Paulsen had three RBIs for the Drillers, with two of them coming on a two-run homer in the top of the eighth inning that put the icing on the cake for the Drillers.
Josh Rutledge went 2-4 with two runs scored for the Drillers, who won their fifth game in a row.
The Travelers' lone run came on a Jean Segura solo home run in the bottom of the sixth inning. Roberto Lopez went 4-4 to pace the offense for Arkansas, all singles.
The Drillers scored a single run in the fourth, sixth, and seventh innings, before Paulsen's homer effectively ended any threat for the Travelers.
Arkansas out-hit the Drillers nine to seven, but they went 0-6 with runners in scoring position.
Mike Piazza took the loss for the Travelers to drop to 1-2 for the year.
The Drillers and Travelers are back at it tomorrow night. First pitch is set for 7:10 p.m.
