From the KOTV Vault: A Familiar Face In 1982 Miss Oklahoma Pageant

Miss Oklahoma 2012 will be crowned Saturday evening at the Mabee Center at Oral Roberts University.

This is the 40th year the pageant has been affiliated with the Kiwanis club of Tulsa.

A search through our video archives has produced some images of pageants past that were held here in Tulsa.

Rick Wells dug into our video vault for some pictures of past pageants and found a familiar face.

Video from 1982 showed Six in the Morning's own LeAnne Taylor competing as a finalist.

In some 1965 video from one of Jack Frank's "Tulsa Memories" pieces on Miss Oklahoma, you can see how much the pageant has changed. Back then, the event was held at the Tulsa Assembly Center and the contestants had to walk around outside the building in their swimsuits.

Five Miss Oklahomas have gone on to be crowned Miss America, like Susan Powell did in 1980. Oklahoma is one of three states to win the Miss America pageant in back-to-back years.

LeAnne Taylor competed three times. In 1980 she was Miss Collinsville, in 1982 she was Miss Tulsa, and in 1983 she was Miss Stroud.
