Tulsa junior All-American Chris O'Hare and senior Carl Stones have both advanced to the finals of their respective events at the 2012 NCAA Track and Field Championships Thursday.

O'Hare qualified for the finals after finishing fourth in his heat of the 1,5000m semifinals, with a time of 3:40.14. He claimed Conference USA championships in both the 800 meter and 1,500 meter races in May.

Stones continued his streak of excellence in the steeplechase, finishing fourth overall in the 3,000 meter competition with a time of 8:39.70. Stones claimed the conference title in the same event with a time of 8:53.39.

Both runners will compete for their respective National Championships Thursday, with O'Hare competing first at 11:17 a.m., while Stones will run his race at 11:52 a.m. An eighth-place finish or better will earn points for the Golden Hurricane and earn first-team All-American status for the athlete.
