Celebrities and golf pros are hitting an Owasso golf course Monday for a good cause. It's the annual Patriot Cup, and all the proceeds go to benefit Folds of Honor.
Folds of Honor is a foundation that gives scholarships to the families of wounded veterans. And some of those veterans will get a chance to play the round of their lives Monday at the Patriot Club southeast of Owasso.
Seventy-eight military personnel are paired with a celebrity and a golf pro Rickie Fowler, Bo Van Pelt, Brandon Weeden and Rascal Flatts will all be on the course Monday.
But as tournament founder Major Dan Rooney explains, it's all about the veterans and their families.
"And the mission, quite simply, of the Folds of Honor is to leave no family behind on that field of battle. We provide over 2,600 scholarships nationwide of spouses and kids of those who have been killed or disabled," said Major Dan Rooney.
Monday evening, Oklahoma native Vince Gill is the third recipient of the Corporal Brock Bucklin Patriot Award to be presented at the Patriot Cup Gala at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Catoosa. Previous winners include former President George H. W. Bush in 2010 and professional golfer Corey Pavin in 2011.
