Rogers County Sheriff's Office Receives Reward For Cattle Death Tip

The Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association has given the Rogers County Sheriff's Office reward money for a tip concerning the death of five cows last year.

Special Rangers John Cummings and Bart Perrier gave Sheriff Scott Walton the money.  It will be given to the people who provided the information that led to the arrest of two Broken Arrow teenagers who used compound bows to kill five head of cattle.

The cattle was worth around $15,000.

"The Rogers County Sheriff's Tip Line did what it was intended to do and that was to provide people with another way of getting information to us that is comfortable to them," said Sheriff Scott Walton.

Tips led deputies to Trayton Vanderpool and Jared Barlass, both 19 years old.

Both teens pleaded in the case and agreed to enter a delayed sentencing program for young adults. Each will get a 5-year deferred sentence plus fines and court costs.
