Crash Kills 73-Year-Old Man Near Adair

A 73-year-old man was killed Tuesday afternoon in single-car accident on Highway 28, 3 miles west of Adair.

Troopers say John McCormick, of Afton, apparently fell asleep at the wheel, left the highway and struck a tree.

The victim was pinned inside his 2010 Chevy pickup for about 45 minutes before being extricated by Adair Fire crews.

He was later pronounced dead at a Tulsa hospital.

McCormick was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, according to an accident report.
