Green Country Firefighters Raise Funds For Cancer Battle

Firefighters from across Green Country hosted a benefit dinner to help one of their own battle cancer.

Mark Meyers has been a part of the Tulsa Fire Department for nearly 16 years.

Six months ago, he went to the doctor for a routine check up and discovered he has stage four cancer.

The Fire Chief says, despite his diagnosis, Mark has stayed positive though it all.

"This guy has never once complained, one time complained, all he said is, 'I'm 40 something years old,' all I see is these three and four year olds going through the same thing I'm doing," said Chief Michael Atchison, Tulsa Fire Department.

All proceeds from Sunday night's auction will go toward helping Mark make the trip back and forth to chemo treatments.
