The image on the right, courtesy of the OK Mesonet, shows the rainfall over the last 24 hours. As you can see, some locations have had a good soaking, others not much more than enough to settle the dust, and others were left out entirely. If you are still looking for a good rain, it will likely be awhile as only some lingering light showers or sprinkles are expected for today and perhaps a few light showers into Sunday, but after that it looks like a dry week ahead.

The cloudy skies, light northerly winds, and light rain have also kept temperatures on the mild side for this time of year. The high Friday was only 71 and we will not be much warmer than that today due to the clouds, a light northerly wind, and a few sprinkles from time to time. Somewhat drier air at the surface will be gradually spreading southward through Monday as we will keep a northerly wind at about 10 mph right on into Monday night. That should result in overnight lows in the 50s for the next several mornings. We should see some sunshine for Sunday and partly cloudy skies by Monday which will push our daytime highs into the mid-upper 70s for Sunday and Monday.

Tuesday will see winds light and variable as the surface high that has been north of us and kept us with a general northerly wind flow will be settling over the state and then moving on eastward. That should produce a clear, cool morning with lows in the lower 50s and then rebounding to near 80 that afternoon. After that, southerly winds will be kicking in for the rest of the week with the surface ridge to the east of us and the lee side low pressure trough to the west of us. Look for our nights to be warming into the 60s and our days into the low-mid 80s by the latter part of the week and going into the coming weekend.

Meanwhile, the flow aloft looks to be rather benign so no rainmakers are foreseen through that period either. Thus, after today, our rain chances are pretty much in the slim to none category for the rest of the forecast period. We are seeing indications of another front coming this way along about Monday of that following week, but between now and then it looks pretty dry.

As always, stay tuned and check back for updates.
