SPRINGDALE, Arkansas – It hasn't been a good trip for the Drillers so far.
Tulsa lost its third straight game to the Northwest Arkansas Naturals on Monday night with a 6-2 defeat on the road.
The game was the third in a four-game series between the teams.
The Drillers actually got on the board first in the top of the first inning as Nolan Arenado singled to bring home Josh Rutledge.
But the 1-0 lead wouldn't last long. The Naturals responded with three RBIs in three consecutive at-bats in the second inning, taking a 3-1 lead that Northwest Arkansas would not relinquish.
They would continue to pile it on in the fifth inning with three more runs, including a solo home run from Wil Myers, extending the lead to 6-1.
Tulsa could only muster one more run in the game, an RBI from Warren Schaeffer in the seventh, but it would only serve to reduce the final margin to 6-2.
Joe Gardner saw the most action on the mound for Tulsa and picked up the loss, throwing five innings and giving up nine hits and all six Naturals runs. Justin Marks got the win for Northwest Arkansas.
The three-game losing streak has knocked the Drillers down to 20-11. The two teams will finish out the series at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Springdale.
