A Tulsa family was lucky to escape injury after a man opened fire on their residence early Sunday morning.

Tulsa police say a mother, father and children were at the home in the 700 block of North Gillette Avenue when the shooting took place just before 6 a.m.

"A neighbor down the street was a witness to it and said there was an individual that ran up, shot an undetermined number of rounds and then ran off," said Sergeant Thaddeus Espy with the Tulsa Police Department.

The shooter got into a car and drove off westbound on Haskell Avenue.

Spent casings at the scene indicate a handgun was used, Espy said. Bullets pierced the windows and outside walls of the north Tulsa house.

Six people were in the home, and no one was injured. There was little description of the shooter or the car for police to go on.
