Editor's note: News On 6 is preparing to move into a new building, so we're taking inventory of everything in our current one. That includes hours and hours of old video. We thought you'd like to see what we find, so we're sharing it here on NewsOn6.com.

Everyone likes a new car. So when we were looking through the Video Vault and found a story about new cars from nearly 30 years ago, we couldn't pass it up.

Let's go back in time to Woodland Hill Mall for a 1984 show.

Channel 6 reporter Christopher Lewis got the car show assignment.

"If 1984 is any indication, Detroit has really outdone itself when it comes to variety," Lewis said.

The video proves that pickups are big in Oklahoma; Mustangs were not at their most attractive. Imports were big: there was a Volvo, and a Saab Turbo with a counter-balancing hood.

Lewis spotlighted the 1984 Pontiac Fiero.

"A two seater, mid-engine sports car made of a plastic called EnduroFLEX, and looking remarkably like a Ferrari," he said.

Fiero – Ferrari? DUDE, come on.

"Driving it at night with the panel lights on, everything lights up in red," said reporter Christopher Lewis.

It was big stuff back then.

Then there was a Chrysler LaBaron Town and Country convertible. I really wanted one back then. My tastes have changed.

The new car show is now an old car show.

Just to give you an idea, we have around 30,000 tapes and each one contains dozens of stories, so it's quite a process.
