TULSA, Oklahoma – It was a wild and crazy game, but the end result was a third straight victory for the Tulsa Drillers.
Tulsa managed to outscore the Arkansas Travelers 7-6 on Monday in a 10-inning game with plenty of hits and plenty of runs.
The Drillers exploded out of the gate in the third inning with three runs on RBIs from Lars Davis, Michael Mitchell and Nolan Arenado.
A wild pitch in the fourth brought the Drillers lead to 4-0.
But Arkansas wasn't about to go down without a fight. In the fifth, sixth and seventh innings, the Travelers combined to score six runs.
That only ended up being enough to tie the game, however, as Tulsa's Matt Long and Jean Segura each homered in the bottom of the sixth.
After all the hectic scoring, Tulsa and Arkansas went through the eighth and ninth innings tied at six runs each.
In the bottom of the 10th, however, Michael Mitchell came through again, this time singling to bring home Angelys Nina to seal the victory.
Coty Woods picked up the win for the Drillers throwing a single inning. Edwar Cabrera got the start and threw six innings, giving up three runs and five hits.
The two teams will meet again at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday in Tulsa.
