Tulsa Man Arrested On Manslaughter, DUI Complaints In Wrong-Way Crash

Police said when Jim Vinson was driving wrong the wrong way on North Cincinnati, he collided with another car, killing a woman.

One person is dead and two others were injured Wednesday night after a wrong-way driver with no headlights collided with another vehicle. 

Police said 78-year-old Jim Vinson was booked into the Tulsa County jail on complaints of driving under the influence, first-degree manslaughter, driving left of center, operating a vehicle with no headlights and speeding.

Bond was set at $51,700.

The collsion happened in the 3500 block of North Cincinnati just after 8:30 p.m.

Police said Vinson was heading northbound on Cincinnati in the southbound lanes with his headlights off when the collision occurred.

A southbound truck swerved to avoid hitting Vinson's car, but a car behind the truck did not see the oncoming car.

Sheron Armstead, 29, was pronounced dead at the scene. Another woman was critically injured, while a third victim sustained minor injuries. All the victims were in the southbound car.

Vinson was treated at the scene and arrested.

Vinson was cited by Tulsa Police and convicted of DUI in 2001; and in 2004 he was convicted of carrying a firearm while intoxicated.
