Former Pawnee County Sheriff Roger Price is one of six Pawnee County residents who've announced their intention to run for the job of Sheriff.  Current sheriff Mike Waters is also seeking re-election.

Price is running on the Republican ticket and Waters on the Democratic ticket.

Price was suspended from his job in September 2010 after a grand jury accused him of willful neglect of duty and grand larceny.

A year later, a misdemeanor theft charge was dropped after a special prosecutor in the case missed a hearing.

Earlier, that special prosecutor had dropped felony charges of unauthorized use of a vehicle against Price.  Price had pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

Price faces a primary election challenge from Forrest Smith of Cleveland.  Waters is being challenged by M.R. Floyd of Cleveland, Todd Fenton of Pawnee and David Maxwell of Cleveland.
