The Tulsa Golden Hurricane pulled off a series sweep over the Marshall Thundering Herd Sunday with a 7-1 win, their 12th conference win of the season.
Lacey Middlebrooks (13-3) was key for the Golden Hurricane in the win, pitching a complete-game in the win over the Golden Hurricane. The junior right-handed pitching gave up just one earned run on eight hits while striking out five in her service for the Golden Hurricane.
Andi Williamson (16-11) gave up four earned runs on three hits in 2.1 innings of service for the Thundering Herd, coming away with a loss.
The Golden Hurricane got two big innings in the win, already holding a lead over Marshall. Leading 1-0 in the top of the third with two runners on base, Caitlin Everett scored on a throwing error taking a two-run advantage.
Samantha Cobb followed with a home run, taking a 4-0 lead over Marshall early in the game.
Four innings later holding a 4-1 lead, Cassidy Bowen hit a leadoff double and two at-bats later Everett singled allowing Bowen and take a 5-1 lead. Two at-bats later Everett and Cierra Hughes both score on a scoring error to take a 7-1 advantage.
Tulsa will take a brief break before hosting the Central Arkansas Bears at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
