Chance of showers/storms later tonight and Tuesday, but better chances of storms and severe weather for later in the week.

Strongly suggest keeping a close eye on the weather during the coming week, right on through the weekend, and perhaps even into the following week. Our weather pattern will be getting more unsettled as the week wears on with showers/storms becoming more and more likely and severe storms a definite possibility as well.

There will also be at least some scattered showers/storms around the state for later this afternoon through the overnight hours and again during the day Tuesday. For the more western counties of OK, severe storms will likely be trouble makers this afternoon, but any showers or storms for E OK should hold off till much later tonight. That puts the threat of severe weather fairly minimal in E OK for this go round.

Another weak frontal boundary is expected to arrive Tuesday morning providing a more E surface wind and that should keep the greatest threat of storms well west of E OK during the day Tuesday. The more easterly surface winds are expected to continue through the day Wednesday, then SE for Thursday and a strong southerly wind for Fri-Sun. The easterly winds, mostly cloudy skies, and at least some showers or storms scattered around will also keep us in the 60s to near 70 during the day Tue and Wed.

After that, the stronger southerly winds will result in warmer temperatures through the weekend. At the same time, a stronger storm system aloft is forecast to move out of the E Pac and across the southern Rockies and eventually out in to the Plains. As that happens, we can expect showers and storms to become more likely and there will also be the potential for severe storms each day along with the threat of flooding rains.

So, the scattered showers and storms for tonight, Tuesday, and perhaps a few again on Wednesday will more of a nuisance with the real threat of severe weather later in the week. That means there is plenty of time to prepare and make sure you and your family are ready in case we do get round after round of severe storms and heavy rainfall.

In the meantime, stay tuned and check back for updates.
