A man stabbed in the chest with a pocket knife refused to be taken to the hospital overnight Sunday.

Tulsa Police got the call of a possible shooting and stabbing in the 1100 block of North Sandusky at about 3:30 a.m. When they arrived, they found a wounded man walking along Pine Street just west of Yale.

He was bleeding from a stab wound in the left side of his chest "in the vicinity of the heart," according to Tulsa Police Sergeant Robert Rohloff.

"He's not wanting to go to the hospital due to the costs associated with medical care," Rohloff said at the scene. Since the stabbing victim was an adult and conscious, police say he had the right to refuse treatment.

"They can't make him go," Rohloff said.

Rohloff said the man was not cooperative when asked about the attack and refused to file a report. Officers took down the information in case the man later died of his wounds, he said.
