A car crashed into the wall of a Brookside club overnight Saturday.
Shortly after 2 a.m., the driver of a white Chevrolet Caprice headed northbound on Peoria lost control of the vehicle. The sedan crossed the center median, went through a tree and hit the wall of the 33 Forty Club at 3300 S. Peoria.
Although the bars had just closed and the sidewalks were crowded, no passersby were injured, according to Tulsa police.
"What's amazing to all of us is that with the large number of pedestrians in the area and all the bar goers on the sidewalk that actually nobody was hit during the collision," said Sergeant Thomas Bell of the Tulsa Police Department.
"We're very fortunate that this was not an auto-pedestrian collision."
When officers arrived, they found two men in the vehicle: one behind the wheel and the other on the floorboard.
The driver of the Caprice was taken into custody. Police found an open container of alcohol and a small baggie of marijuana when they inventoried the vehicle.
Bell said the passenger would most likely be taken into custody for public intoxication.
While police were responding to the wreck, they also took a young woman at the scene into custody for public intoxication. She was not involved in the collision.
An employee of the club was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
