An Oklahoma City man is in the Sequoyah County jail after deputies stopped his SUV on I-40 near a rest stop.
Sheriff Ron Lockhart told News On 6, undercover sheriff's deputies noticed the man, Alfredo Trijillo, 50, acting suspiciously at the rest stop.
When Trijillo left the rest stop, a uniformed deputy stopped his SUV. Lockhart says as the deputy approached the Ford Expedition, he smelled a strong odor of marijuana.
In the back of the SUV, in plain sight, deputies found 242 pounds of marijuana in 22 large bricks. A search of the SUV also turned up $1,400 in cash.
Trijillo was arrested and taken to jail on a complaint of trafficking in illegal drugs.
Lockhart says the street value of the marijuana which was bound for Arkansas was $250,000. He says the marijuana had come from Mexico.
