A Bartlesville man remains in the Washington County jail following his arrest on two charges of child abuse.
Steven Moland, 28, was arrested after Bartlesville Police investigated an incident in a home on the 600 block of South Wilshire involving a 23-month old girl and 6-month old girl on Friday, March 23, 2012.
Court records indicated two women were babysitting the girls when they noticed bruises and scratches on both children.
An Oklahoma Department of Human Services case worker and police were called and both verified the apparent signs of child abuse.
The girls' mother told officers that Moland had been with the girls while she was at work. Moland was interviewed by police and denied the abuse.
After further questioning, Moland admitted grabbing the children, but didn't mean to hurt them. He was arrested and taken to the Washington County jail.
Moland was convicted of child abuse from a 2003 incident and spent four years in prison.
Moland's bond is $50,000. His next court hearing is April 13, 2012.
