A Broken Arrow teenager is in critical condition at a Tulsa hospital after the vehicle she was riding in went airborne and struck a tree, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported Sunday afternoon.
The crash happened at 8:13 p.m. Saturday on Oklahoma 48, just north of West 321st Street in Creek County.
Brittany Nicole Bridgewater, 17, of Broken Arrow, and another passenger, Destin Taylor DeGeorge, 26, of Broken Arrow, were ejected from a 2005 Jeep SUV after its driver overcorrected. Neither Bridgewater nor DeGeorge were wearing seatbelts.
Bridgewater was transported to a Tulsa hospital by medical helicopter. DeGeorge was transported to an Okemah hospital and later released.
The driver, Aunisty Sky Paten George, an 18-year-old Sapulpa woman, left the roadway for an unknown reason and overcorrected, OHP said. She and a third passenger were wearing seatbelts and were treated and released at area hospitals.
The reason for the crash is under investigation, as is the condition of the driver, OHP said.
