STILLWATER, Oklahoma – A huge second half led Oklahoma State to a 72-51 victory over Central Arkansas on Friday, moving the Cowgirls into the second round of the NIT.
The Cowgirls will advance to host Wichita State, which beat Oral Roberts in its opening-round game.
Toni Young had a huge night for Oklahoma State with 22 points and nine rebounds. Early in the game, Young became just the 19th player in OSU school history to reach the 1,000-point mark.
The first half went back and forth the entire time, resulting in a two-point margin in Oklahoma State's favor at the break.
But right from the start in the second, the Cowgirls left no doubt as to who the better team was.
They went on an 11-2 run in the first five minutes of the second half and only expanded their lead from there.
OSU held Central Arkansas to a remarkable four field goals in the entire second half on its way to finishing the game with its biggest margin of 21 points.
Liz Donohoe added 13 points for OSU and Lindsey Keller led all players in rebounding with 12.
The loss finishes out the Bears' season at 24-7, while Oklahoma State advanced and upped its record to 17-12.
OSU will host the Shockers of Wichita State at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Gallagher-Iba Arena for the second round.
