The Tulsa Golden Hurricane softball team came away with a win over the Central Florida Knights Sunday 2-1, capping off the three-game series with back-to-back wins, improving to 16-5 this season.
Lacey Middlebrooks (5-2) kept the UCF bats in check, giving up just two hits and striking out four in her six innings of service. Kalynn Schrock came in to finish the game out for TU, earning a save for her one inning of service.
Central Florida started the game off quickly, loading the bases and scoring and bringing Natalie Land home on a passed ball, the only run Middlebrooks would give up on the day.
The Golden Hurricane answered back in the top of the fifth inning, playing small ball to get a runner home. Caitlin Everett reached on a leadoff single, stole second base and hit third on a sacrifice bunt. Skylar Swanson followed with yet another sac bunt, bringing Everett home and tying the game 1-1.
In the sixth, Jessica Stoelke knocked a triple in the second at-bat of the inning, and Julie Kernen followed with a single back to the pitcher to bring her home to take a 2-1 advantage.
Mackenzie Audas was credited with a loss for the outing, giving up seven hits, two earned runs and striking out nine in his seven innings of service.
The Golden Hurricane will be back in action for a one-off game in Jacksonville at 4 p.m., before returning home for a weekend series against East Carolina.
