A Nice Friday

The main upper level low is well to our southwest and will stay far enough away today to have little impact on our weather.  We expect mostly sunny conditions with highs in the upper 50s and lower 60s.  This evening the upper level low gets a shove and will begin moving east to northeast bringing increasing clouds and rain chances back to the region by late Saturday evening. 

Saturday should remain dry for most of northern OK but locations across the southern part of the state may see rain spreading into the region by late Saturday afternoon.  Clouds will be likely Saturday across the state by midday if not sooner but afternoon temperatures will move into the upper 50s or lower 60s for many locations.   

Saturday evening, probably after the 10pm hour, rain and storms will begin moving into northeastern OK and the eastern part of the state.  This activity will persist overnight into most of the midday Sunday period before moving eastward into Arkansas by Sunday afternoon or evening.  Despite the Sunday rain, temperatures during the afternoon may move into the upper 50s or lower 60s as south winds in the 10 to 25 mph range blow across the state. 

The early part of next week will feature a southwest flow aloft which will bring much warmer air to the area including the potential for some upper 70s and lower 80s Tuesday and Wednesday. 

Wednesday into the latter part of next week will see an active weather pattern unfolding with a few storm chances that may be strong to severe as a few embedded shortwaves slide across the southern plains.  

The weather team was in Drumright and Mannford yesterday for another edition of Trav's Wild Weather Camp.  The kids were super great as we learned about weather and weather safety.
