TULSA, Oklahoma – TU Softball kept up a solid stretch of play with another pair of wins on Friday night, this time against North Texas and Austin Peay.
The Golden Hurricane has won six of its past seven with the lone loss coming Feb. 26 against Michigan State.
In the first game of the day on Friday, Tulsa kept the North Texas Mean Green at bay with a 7-2 victory and a nice performance from Lacey Middlebrooks in the circle.
Middlebrooks gave up five hits in the complete game, moving her record to 2-1 on the year.
After a couple of runs early on to give it a 2-0 lead, Tulsa increased its margin in the fourth as a throwing error from North Texas allowed two runners to score.
The Golden Hurricane would add another pair of runs in the fifth to cruise to the win.
They followed it up with an even easier 8-0 win against Austin Peay in five innings.
This time it was Kalynn Schrock getting work done on the mound, throwing all five innings and giving up five hits.
A single from Skylar Swanson in the first inning brought home two batters, but the second inning is what broke the game open for TU.
Swanson did it again with another single to score two more, making it a four-RBI game for Swanson and a four-run inning for Tulsa.
The Golden Hurricane will play two more on Saturday, with the first coming against Loyola Chicago. First pitch is set for 12:30 p.m.
